Alaska Lyng er dansk-græsk jazzsanger med en varm og personlig tilgang til jazzens vokaltradition. Født i Grækenland med græsk mor og dansk far har hun gennem hele livet bevæget sig mellem to kulturer. I dag bor hun i Odense, men de græske rødder er fortsat en naturlig del af hendes musikalske identitet.
Gennem årene har Alaska turneret intensivt i Grækenland og flere gange delt scenen med sin far, den danske cellist og kontrabassist Søren Lyng Hansen.
SANGEN I CENTRUM
Med udgangspunkt i The Great American Songbook og jazzens klassiske vokalrepertoire giver Alaska velkendte melodier sit eget personlige udtryk. Respekten for jazzens historie er fundamental, men musikken skal leve – med plads til spontanitet, improvisation og samspillet mellem musikerne.

ALASKA & SØREN LYNG HANSEN
Efter mange koncerter sammen har far og datter udviklet en intuitiv musikalsk forståelse. Søren bevæger sig mellem kontrabas og elektrisk cello – fra kontrabassens varme puls til celloens mørkere, lyriske klang – i tæt dialog med Alaskas stemme.
Alaska optræder i duo, trio og kvartet, fra det helt intime format til den fyldigere klassiske jazzklang. Fælles er nærheden mellem musikere og publikum og en levende, personlig fortolkning af jazzens store sangskat.

Alaska Lyng is a Greek-Danish jazz singer with a warm and personal approach to the jazz vocal tradition. Born in Greece to a Greek mother and Danish father, she has moved between two cultures throughout her life. Today she lives in Odense, Denmark, while her Greek roots remain a natural part of her musical identity.
Over the years, Alaska has toured extensively throughout Greece and has frequently shared the stage with her father, Danish cellist and double bassist Søren Lyng Hansen.

Drawing from the Great American Songbook and the classic jazz vocal repertoire, Alaska brings her own personal voice to familiar melodies. Respect for the history of jazz is fundamental, but the music must remain alive — with room for spontaneity, improvisation and interaction between the musicians.

ALASKA & SØREN LYNG HANSEN
After many performances together, father and daughter have developed an intuitive musical understanding. Søren moves between double bass and electric cello — from the warm pulse of the bass to the darker, lyrical voice of the cello — in close dialogue with Alaska’s vocals.
Alaska performs in duo, trio and quartet settings, ranging from the most intimate format to the fuller sound of a classic jazz ensemble. At the heart of each setting is the closeness between musicians and audience, and a fresh, personal interpretation of the great jazz songbook.
